Events: Fire at the Sainte-Chapelle in Chambéry. The Shroud, saved at the last minute, is damaged by drops of molten silver trickling down inside the heated reliquary.

Events: The Poor Clare nuns of the Chambéry convent begin work on restoring the Shroud (sewing patches in the most damaged areas and lining the whole with Dutch linen).
